Frequently asked questions on additive manufacturing
Shape freedom, customization, a variety of materials, technologies, and quick manufacturing are just some of the main advantages provided by additive manufacturing. It is also possible to make rapid customizations according to production and design requirements, as well as to easily create a single sample for testing. Internal latex structures can also be made to improve performance, weight and overall size.
Production time is entirely determined by the production hours needed to create the item, sometimes it takes just a few hours and sometimes it takes from 2 to 5 working days – based on the degree of surface finish preferred and on the size of the item.
Thanks to the wide variety of technologies that Quality Control Ltd. has on hand, there are no major limitations. Polymer, composite super-polymer and metals are the main materials that we can prototype both in 3D printing and machining from solid. We can produce complete and fully functional prototypes including mechanical and electronic kinematic motions.
Prototypes are made using our 3D printers from different technologies, machining from solid and series at our partner company Vmech. Surface finishing and assembly are carried out by our skilled technicians. Our prototypes are optimized and checked with the help of our in-house metrology lab.
All the prototypes – from optimization to the finished component – are overseen by a designated project manager who coordinates the multiple departments to meet both product specifics and delivery deadlines.
